Atlanta, Georgia is an international hub. With a population of almost a half million people, there is plenty of culture and innovation in the peach state’s capital. This metropolitan area has more to offer than anyone could hope to accomplish in one trip to Atlanta, as any local will tell you. Explore the famous sites of Atlanta by traveling to the Georgia Aquarium, checking out the World of Coca Cola, or seeing the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site. Once you tire of the city’s hustle and bustle, the Atlanta Botanical Garden certainly helps give you that tranquility that only nature can provide, but what about an adventure? Of course, it would have to be within a day of the city, since you can only keep your school group or church group for the day. There has to be some solution, right? Atlanta is in quite close quarters with several national forests, including the Chattahoochee National Forest and Oconee National Forest. Who wouldn’t want to trade the sound of traffic for the sound of wind through the trees for a day?

Rather than setting out on a googling voyage to ultimately come up with a few outdoor activities you’re not that fond of, we’re going to let you in on a secret right now: white water river rafting on the Ocoee River. Ocoee, Tennessee is home to this world-famous body of water, and it’s only a couple of hours by car from Atlanta. We’re proud to call this little chunk of the Chattahoochee National Forest home. White water river rafting with Cascade Outdoors is your one-stop shop when it comes to fun group activities in the outdoors. River rafting with us is great for kids or even a corporate team building activity, so fret not — the search is over!

At Cascade Outdoors, we like to keep things simple, just like nature intended. We offer two river rafting tours that can fit all of your budgets — time, money, and ability. For those who want to dip their toes into the water first (so to speak, of course), check out our half-day river rafting trip. This is the best option for those who haven’t rafted before, and we can guarantee you’ll feel safe and sound with our local, super friendly, expert guides. The class III and IV rapids will be no match for your group as your guide will make sure you’re safe and having fun the whole time. This trip is perfect for families or groups with younger children (12 and up) that want to give white water river rafting a shot.

Our full-day river rafting trip is the better option for those seeking more adventure. This complete trip will allow you to navigate about 10 miles of the Ocoee River as you follow the same course used in the 1996 Olympic whitewater slalom competition (your guide will tell you all about it, don’t worry). Your experienced guide knows their way through the class IV and V rapids of the Ocoee River like the back of their hand. We guarantee that you’ll have a blast on this full-day trip and make memories that will last a lifetime.

After the trip, it’s almost expected that you’ve worked up an appetite. White water river rafting is hard work (well, it’s not really work, it’s more pure fun) after all! You’ll have plenty of time post-river adventure to stop at our favorite Ocoee Dam Deli & Diner for lunch. Home cooked comfort food, fresh green salads, and so much more… what more could you ask for when prepping for the journey back to busy Atlanta after your outdoor adventure on the Ocoee River? Though it’s likely you’ll never want to leave our stunning outdoor oasis, eventually the time to leave will arrive… but you’re welcome back any time!
